Miracle Baby Maternity Session At Seward Park, WA

It was such a privilege for me to capture this wonderful and special moment in my clients life! After many years of trying to conceive they finally got the good news. They were going to be parents for the first time!!! Woo Hoo!

After meeting with my client at a nearby coffee shop, I got to hear her wonderful story of everything her and her husband has gone through trying to have this baby. It was such a miracle that she conceived at all! We wanted to make sure her session would be very special.

Right away I got a vision in my mind of a rainbow amidst dark moody sky representing hope and a promise of a new found miracle. My client loved the idea and we began planning out the details right away.

Proper location was very important to ensure our plan would work. I needed something with lots of open sky and my client really wanted a lake and a forest feel as well. We finally settled on one of my most popular locations, Rattlesnake Lake. It had everything, lake, forest, mountains and plenty of big sky for my vision to work out.

Well, at the day of the shoot my weather app said there was zero chance of rain but, something inside told me to go there and check it out anyway. This location is 45 minutes away from where I live but it was almost an hour and a half from my client, so I wanted to make sure they wouldn't be making such a long trip for nothing. Boy, am I glad I did!

Not only did it rain, it was like a monsoon! I instantly got wet, the moment I got out of the car! This was not going to work. I contacted my client right away, and explained the whole situation.

Our next best choice was Seward Park located in Seattle. It is a huge park placed on huge Lake Washington. It features acres of forest, beautiful trails along the lake, and nice big beaches. It was an almost perfect location, except for the fact that it is not very secluded. There are multimillion mansions all around it. It would be very tricky for me to keep just the nature part of this shoot.

I showed up an hour early to do a quick walk through trying to find perfect spots for our session. It was raining the whole time I was driving there and it stopped right when I got there. I couldn't believe it. Looks like someone was really watching out for us that day. ;)

I found beautiful spots right away. The beach was perfect for the big dramatic shots, I was able to get the angle without any houses in it. I was also able to find beautiful forest paths, that would look absolutely magical in pictures. I was more than thrilled.

We had a lot of fun during the shoot. Everything was finally in our favor, the light, the background, and the weather. I remember there was a lot of laughing. My clients were so easy going it really made for a fun and exciting day. And the pictures? Well this is by far one of my favorite sessions of all times!
